Check in at the REGISTRATION TABLE which has a sign for your class. Our volunteers will give you instructions on where to drop off your child. Please, note that as per venue’s rules, PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE THEATRE DURING DRESS REHEARSAL. There will be volunteers to walk ALL students to the dressing areas, supervise students and help young students to put on their costumes. There will be no private dressing rooms for costume changes. Students will not be able to use the restrooms for costume changes. ALL students must wear an undergarment at ALL TIMES. Each dance will have a walk through on stage, without music, then a run through with music. We will rehearse the dances following the recital order, except for the TODDLERS (Ms. Caroline’s Class). Please, see dress rehearsal schedule below. After each class has rehearsed, students will be taken to the dressing area to change into their regular street clothes. Students participating in more than one dance will change into costume for their next dance. There will be volunteers to supervise and help students. All costumes will return home with students after dress rehearsal. NO STUDENT WILL BE HANDED TO THE PARENTS ON STAGE OR IN THE AUDIENCE AREA. PARENTS: Please, pick up your child at the same location where you dropped them off, after they are done rehearsing their last dance (see schedule below).

After 5 p.m., you can also use Parking Deck F29. Located on the corner of Goodwin and Dorner Drive in Urbana, the deck can be accessed off Dorner.

PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE DRESSING AREAS (basement dressing rooms or balcony dressing area). There will be volunteers to walk ALL students to the dressing areas, supervise students and help young students to put on their costumes. After dropping your child off, parents can go to the audience area. There will be no private dressing rooms for costume changes. Students will not be able to use the restrooms for costume changes. ALL students must wear an undergarment at ALL TIMES. The performance will last less than 90 minutes and there will be no intermission. After each dance routine is done, the students will be escorted to the dressing area and change into regular clothes. They will be seated at the balcony, accompanied by our volunteers, to watch the rest of the show, after their dance routine is done. ALL STUDENTS will be dismissed after the performance is over, at the same location where they were dropped off. NO STUDENT WILL BE HANDED TO THEIR PARENTS ON STAGE OR IN THE AUDIENCE AREA. Please, observe the following:
No video recording or photography of the performance will be allowed during recital days. We will send information regarding video purchasing later.
No outside food or beverages may be brought into the facility uncles approved by the University of Illinois Representative. We have permission for our performers to have pre-packed dry snacks in the dressing areas.
Smoking is prohibited on campus, both indoors and outdoors.
We do not hold a permission from the University of Illinois to serve or allow alcohol beverages to be consumed during our event.
The possession, use distribution, dispensation, sale or manufacture of cannabis on University of Illinois property is prohibited. This prohibition applies to both recreation and medical cannabis.

All Students will need to wear their costumes for PICTURE DAY, DRESS REHEARSAL and RECITAL DAYS.
Students do not have to return costumes to the studio after the recital, excpet students that are borrowing a costume from the studio (this option is available for some students enrolled in the pre-professional ballet program).
ANY dance attire (except tennis shoes for hip hop and undergarment for male students) should be purchased at a store or website specialized in dance attire. Dance items available at the regular retail stores (Target, Walmart, etc.) are not suitable for our dance classes or performances. If ballet slippers are required, female students must wear canvas, split sole, light pink color slippers. Male studdents must wear black canvas ballet slippers.
If pink tights are required, please purchase footed ballet tights with NO SEAMS, ballet pink or ligh pink color.
During Picture Day, Dress Rehearsal Day and Performance Days, private dressing rooms will ot available. All costume changes will be held in a collective dressing room. For this reason, all students must wear an undergarment.
Undergarment for male students: fitted shirt and fitted shorts under their costume. Purchase at any retail store.
Undergarment for female students: nude or beige color leotard (see picture below). See list of vendors above to purchase the undergament.
Please, observe the following:
All costumes will come inside a garment bag.
Keep the costume in the garment bag at all times.
Make sure your costume is not used before the recital date for any purpose other than the Urbana Fine Arts Center’s picture day, dress rehearsal and recital.
Most ballet costumes will need to be steamed. If you don’t have a steamer, the easiest thing to do is to hang the costume in a bathroom with closed doors and fan off for about 30 minutes, while hot water from a shower is on. You can always turn the fan on later while the door is closed if you don’t want the humid air in your house. Important: DO NOT WET THE COSTUME.

Nail polish may not be used for pictures or performances.
No watches or jewelry. This includes ANY kind of earrings. If any kind of jewelry is required, we will let students and parents know.
All students must wear regular makeup for Picture Day (powder, blush, brown eye shadow and lipstick).
All students must wear stage makeup for dress rehearsal and performance. Students ages 5 and younger may wear regular makeup (powder, blush, brown eye shadow and lipstick) instead of stage makeup.Click here for a tutorial on how to do stage makeup.
All students must have their hair as per instructions on costume notes for pictures and performance.
Hair falling on dancer’s face is not acceptable. Please, use gel or hair spray.

RECITAL PARTICIPATION:
Participation in the recital is not mandatory.
All students ages 2 to 18, enrolled in the winter/spring semester are welcome to participate.
Drop-in students do not participate in the recital. Deadline to change status from drop-in to semester student is Saturday, February 5th.
Students taking more than one type of dance class during the semester: we will assume that the student will participate in all dances and apply charges to the student’s account for participation in all dances. Please let us know otherwise.
Floor Barre, Stability, Ballet Silver and Adult Ballet classes do not participate in the recital. Students under the age of 18 enrolled in Ballet Silver wishing to participate in the recital: please contact us.
All students that choose to participate must attend the dress rehearsal and both performances.
FEES: 1) Recital Registration Fee: $60.00 per student. This fee covers the expenses with all the professional that we will hire to work in the theatre, specifically for our recital: technicians, light designer, prop designer, dance teachers and studio staff working extra hours. These expenses are not covered by regular classes tuition.
2) Costume Fees: Pre-professional ballet program classes - Ballet Yellow, Ballet Green, Ballet Orange, Ballet Red and Ballet White:
Child size costumes: $75.00 to $100.00 plus tax
XL child and adult size costumes: $80.00 to $100.00 plus tax
Each student will need one costume for the ballet production. Students performing solos might be able to borrow a costume from us.
All other classes:
Child size costumes: $60.00 to $75.00 plus tax
XL child and adult size costumes: $65.00 to $80.00 plus tax.
3) Rehearsal Fees:
Pre-professional program students in Ballet Yellow, Ballet Green and Ballet Orange: $180.00
Pre-professional program students in Ballet Red and Ballet White: $360.00
All other students: no charge for rehearsals.
REHEARSALS:

Saturdays - February 19 to May 21, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM
Pre-professional ballet program students in Ballet Red and Ballet White:
Saturdays - February 19 to May 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM
Al other students: rehearsals will be held during each class, taking the last 15 minutes of class, starting at any time in January.
All students are expected to attend at least 85% of rehearsals.
COSTUMES: Costumes will be ordered by the studio and sold to each student. We will start taking measurements on January 24 during classes. We will contact the pre-professional ballet program students that can borrow a costume from us for fitting. All costumes will come in a garment bag and the students must keep each costume in a separate garment bag at all times. For picture day, dress rehearsal and performance days, all students will need to wear an undergarment. Detailed information about where to purchase an undergarment, as well as how to handle and care for costumes are posted above.
RECITAL T-SHIRT Purchase of a recital t-shirt is not mandatory. Price is $23.00 plus tax and deadline to order it was Saturday, April 30.
PICTURE DAY: Sunday, May 15 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Times for each group or class: see below. Illini Studio will come to our location to take professional pictures of all students. Price and procedures for all orders will be determined by the Illini Studio. Purchasing pictures is not mandatory, but all students must be present for the group picture.
VOLUNTEERS: We ask all families to provide one volunteer to help during either picture day, dress rehearsal or one of the performances. Detailed information will be sent later. Registration to volunteer is open through the parent portal.
