Dress Code Summer 2026

Important:


ANY dance attire (except tennis shoes for hip hop) should be purchased at a store specialized in dance attire. Dance items available at regular retail stores are not suitable for our dance classes or performances.
​If  ballet tights are required, please purchase ballet tights with NO SEAMS, brand Capezio Transition or Capezio Footed.

BALLET


Option 1:

​Hair: Secured in a ballet bun, away from the face.

  • BLACK tank or camisole leotard (pink or black for 3 to 6 years old).  No skirt or other attachments. Please note that only students ages 6 and younger may wear pink leotard. Students ages 7 and older must wear BLACK leotard.
  • Ballet Pink tights (footed or convertible).
  • Ballet Pink ballet slippers (canvas split sole required).
            Ballet slippers: A ½”elastic must be sown as shown in the images below (one way or the other):

Pointe

Pointe shoes, according to teacher's guidance and requirement.  Any student beginning pointe work must have a introductory class with the ballet teacher.  Introductory classes are held at the beginning of each semester or during a 30 minutes private lesson.

Option 2:

Picture
  • Plain White t-shirt or body wrapper dance t-shirt. No lettering, pictures, or designs.
  • Black shorts.
  • White socks.
  • Black or white canvas ballet slippers (canvas split sole required). NO BLACK LEATHER BALLET SLIPPERS.
            Ballet slippers: A ½”elastic must be sown as shown in the images below (one way or the other):

TAP


  • Leotard and tights accepted.
  • Comfortable tops accepted – no coats, outdoor jackets, or hoodies.
  • Shorts, leggings, tight-fitting pants accepted – no bulky sweatpants.
  • Tap shoes: oxford style preferred – no split-sole, please. Click here for detailed information.
  • Plain or patterned tops with no lettering.
  • Hair must be fastened back and secure.

HIP-HOP


  • Comfortable clothes (no jeans).
  • Plain or patterned tops with no lettering.
  • Hip-Hop shoes or dance snickers preferred. Regular tennis shoes with clean soles are accepted.
    NO STREET SHOES ALLOWED ON DANCE FLOOR.
  • Hair must be fastened back and secure.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE AND MUSICAL THEATRE


  • Black tank or camisole leotard.  No skirt or other attachments.
  • Hair pulled away from the face (pony tail or ballet bun).
  • Ballet slippers.
  • Convertible ballet pink tights.  Teacher might require bare feet for parts of the contemporary classes.​

FLOOR BARRE & CONDITIONING


Regular ballet uniform, or:
  • Comfortable clothes.
  • Plain or patterned tops with no lettering.
  • Socks or ballet slippers. Teacher might ask for bare foot during stability class.
  • Please, no bare foot for Floor Barre classes.
  • No jeans.
  • All students enrolled in the Pre-Professional Ballet Program must wear ballet uniform for Floor Barre and Conditioning classes.

ADULTS


  • Wear comfortable attire keeping the abdomen area covered.
  • If wearing shorts, wear dance tights underneath.
  • Plain or patterned tops with no lettering.
  • Wear dance shoes or socks, never street shoes or barefoot, unless required due to class content. 
  • Ballet slippers recommended (canvas, split sole) for ballet and floor barre classes.
  • NO BLACK LEATHER BALLET SLIPPERS.
  • NO BLACK JAZZ SHOES.
  • Hair pulled away from the face (pony tail or ballet bun).
